Two towns in Syria are currently experiencing massive power blackouts due to Turkish attacks. Today’s airstrikes by Turkey have resulted in two electricity plants in the cities of Qamishlo and Amouda being taken out of service. This has far-reaching implications as hundreds of thousands of Syrians are now without electricity.<\/p>\n

According to reports from the Electricity Supply Office of the Self-Government in Northern and Eastern Syria, one of the substations was completely shut down, while the other was partially damaged due to bombardment. As a result of these incidents, the power supply to water pumping stations in Aoueja and Yajka, grain silos, the mill in Qamishlo, the heart and eye hospital and six other clinics, the automatic bakeries in Qamishlo, and tens of thousands of households in the city has been cut off.<\/p>\n

Similarly, in Amouda, where the main power plant in the region was bombed, all public services, neighborhoods, and surrounding villages have been affected by power disruptions.<\/p>\n

These dramatic power cuts are a direct consequence of the intense airstrikes launched by Turkey last night after Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that his country would destroy infrastructure and vital facilities in northern and eastern Syria.<\/p>\n
