The Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the attack on Syrian army buses through its social media channels, leaving at least 33 soldiers of the Syrian Assad regime dead.
\nOn Friday night, militants of the terror organization attacked several buses of the Syrian army in Deir ez-Zor province in the east of the country, killing 23 soldiers and injuring 11, according to the first data released by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Later, the casualty figure was updated by activists to 33 soldiers killed, while the state-run SANA news agency reported the attack but did not provide exact details of the casualty numbers.
\nThe terrorist organization’s “Amaq” news agency released a statement saying, “The militants of the organization ambushed on Thursday two military buses carrying dozens of soldiers of the 17th division of the government forces near the village of Muayzilah in Deir ez-Zor.”
\nAccording to the report, various weapons were used in the attack, killing 40 soldiers of the Syrian military and injuring 10.
\nSince the beginning of August, there has been an increase in military clashes and attacks in Badia, Syria. Already at the beginning of the week, IS attacked units of the Syrian army near Rakka, killing 10 soldiers.
\nThese are the most violent attacks since the Islamic State’s territorial defeat in 2019. “The whole world should know that our loyalty to our leaders is accomplished with deeds, not words. Our struggle will take place until the Day of Judgment,” the terrorist organization threatened in its statement.
