Militants from the Islamic State terrorist group have killed at least 10 soldiers in an attack in northern Syria. This has been reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), which monitors the situation in Syria.<\/p>\n
According to the report, armed ISIS fighters stormed a number of military checkpoints of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) near the city of Raqqa. They shelled army vehicles and also set them on fire. Six soldiers were wounded, some of them in critical condition. The terrorist organization has not yet claimed responsibility through any of its propaganda channels.<\/p>\n
ISIS has escalated its attacks on Syrian government targets in recent weeks. So far this year, some 200 Syrian army soldiers are believed to have been killed in ISIS attacks. This is SOHR’s conclusion, based on its own research. The organization relies on public sources such as social media and a network of local residents. Some 150 civilians were killed by Islamic State in the Syrian desert in 2023, according to the SOHR.
