On Saturday, the Syrian authorities announced that 5 soldiers had been killed, in addition to physical casualties, as a result of rocket strikes from the northeastern direction of Lake Tiberia, targeting Damascus International Airport and some points south of Damascus. In fact, Israel was accused of being behind the attack, which rarely acknowledges attacks on Syria.<\/p>\n

\u201eThe Israeli enemy\u201c launched aerial aggression with missiles from the northeast direction of Lake Tiberias, targeting Damascus International Airport and some points, located south from Damascus\u201c, according to the Syrian State news agency SANA. Pursuant to a military source the attack occurred “At about 12:15 a.m. today\u201c.<\/p>\n

He added that “our air defences responded to the aggression missiles and brought down most of them. The aggression killed 5 soldiers and suffered some material losses”, according to SANA.<\/p>\n

The Israeli army said it did not comment on reports in foreign media<\/p>\n

On 6 September, Israel targeted the Aleppo International Airport and its perimeter, leaving it out of service for about 72 hours, killing 3 people and injuring 5 others.<\/p>\n

It confirmed that 6 Israeli missiles targeted the airport and its perimeter, causing significant damage to the tarmac and to led to its decommissioning.
