The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Deir ez-Zor Civil Council held a conference in Deir ez-Zor entitled “Conference on Strengthening Security and Stability in Deir ez-Zor to Develop and Consolidate Solidarity”. The conference was organized with the broad participation of components of Deir ez-Zor society.
The conference was organized to strengthen security and stability in the region and to consolidate coexistence following recent developments in Deir ez-Zor and was attended by a large number of sheikhs and clan notables, including representatives of the eastern, western and northern Deir ez-Zor councils, representatives of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, political parties and women’s representatives. The conference was also joined by representatives of AANES, the Deputy Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Laila Qaraman, and the Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed.
ANHA reported that the conference discussed the political, service and economic situation in Deir ez-Zor, as well as good governance, proposals and decisions. It was also aimed at identifying the needs of the people of Deir ez-Zor, activating genuine participatory action and building a solid administrative structure based on real competencies, and strengthening the military security forces. Prior to the conference, the Autonomous Administration held meetings with the residents of the region and listened to their views on how to improve the civil administration in Deir ez-Zor and strengthen security in the region. In the meantime, the operations against the Islamic State in the region are continuing.
