Four SDF/YPG fighters killed in anti-ISIS operations, 6 ISIS members captured

Two fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed in a firefight with ISIS near Deir ez-Zor. This was announced by the SDF press office in Heseke on Thursday. According to the report, both fighters belonged to the Special Forces Command, a special military unit of the Self-Defence Forces “Hêzên Xweparastinê” (HXP), and had been involved in the fight against ISIS for years.

The SDF fighters were killed during a counter-terrorism operation in the town of Hajin, south-west of Deir ez-Zor, when clashes broke out. The SDF expresses its condolences to the families of those killed and to the public. The People’s Protection Units (YPG) also announced the loss of two fighters. In a statement, it said the fighters were killed during operations against an ISIS cell in Deir ez-Zor. The YPG extends its condolences to the families of the fallen and to the people of Northern and Eastern Syria.

In recent weeks, operations against ISIS cells in Deir ez-Zor have also resulted in the capture of ISIS members. Internal Security Forces (HAT) in Northeast Syria said they have arrested six more ISIS members in Deir ez-Zor. The HAT arrested ISIS men during an anti-ISIS operation in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The operation, supported by the international coalition, resulted in the arrest of six ISIS members and the seizure of weapons.

In a statement, the HAT said it would continue to fulfill its duties to the people of the region, bringing cells under control and ensuring security in the region.
