Alleged Turkish intelligence officer shot dead in armed attack in Sulaymaniyah

Yesterday, an officer of the Turkish Intelligence Organization (MIT) attempted to assassinate a citizen, I.E., in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Autonomous Kurdish Region of Iraq. The attacker was killed after the citizen he was trying to kill responded with gunfire. The victim was reportedly seriously wounded and hospitalized.

In the town of Sengeser in Sulaymaniyah, Sinan Demiryürek, a Turkish national on a motorcycle, reportedly carried out an armed attack on a citizen. Rojnews has obtained the identity of the attacker. He is said to be a Turkish citizen, Sinan Demiryürek, and an officer of the Turkish intelligence service. According to information and documents provided to Rojnews by private sources, the attacker has been living in Sulaymaniyah for some time.

I.E., who was seriously wounded in the attack, was taken to Shar Hospital in Sulaymaniyah. Rojnews reported that there was an urgent need for blood for I.E., who is in a critical condition, and called for blood donations.

Turkish intelligence has carried out many assassinations in the Autonomous Kurdish Region of Iraq in the past. The latest was an armed attack on the Erbil office of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK). KNK representative Deniz Cevdet Bülbün was killed in the attack. There have been claims that MIT was behind the attack.
