A Turkish drone targeted a brick factory used by the SDF as a military barracks on the main road between Heseke and Qamishli. As a result of the attack, explosions were heard in the village of Sefayah in Heseke. Ambulances rushed to the scene of the attack, where casualties were reported.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the number of strikes carried out by Turkish drones on areas controlled by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has risen to 51 since the beginning of the year. A total of 62 people have been killed as a result of the strikes by the Turkish state. SOHR reports that 13 civilians, including one child and two women, 46 military personnel and three regime soldiers were killed, while more than 57 people were injured.
Twenty two of Turkey’s drone strikes in 2023 took place in Heseke. Ten civilians and 27 military personnel were reportedly killed in these strikes, including three women and one child. Three strikes in Raqqa and 26 strikes in Aleppo killed 19 fighters, including three from units protecting Kurdish people, three regime soldiers and three civilians.
Meanwhile, SOHR reiterated the urgent need for an end to violations by Turkish forces and their proxies, noting that the appalling humanitarian situation in the Turkish-occupied areas still continues.
