SDF declares Turkey is preparing to occupy more areas in northeast Syria

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) released a statement revealing the intentions of the Turkish state to occupy more territories in north-eastern Syria. The SDF pointed out that the Turkish state is spreading misinformation in order to hinder the progress of the “Operation Security Reinforcement”, which the SDF has been conducting since 27 August against ISIS sleeper cells and drug traffickers in the Deir ez-Zor region.

According to the SDF, the Turkish state is resorting to spreading unfounded information through its Ministry of Defense after failing to take advantage of the attacks by the criminal elements it supports that are being targeted by the SDF operation. The statement stressed that the SDF operation is progressing successfully despite attempts by outside forces to thwart it.

The SDF underlined that the only purpose of the Turkish state’s misinformation is to prepare the ground for an attack on the region and to implement its occupation plan. The statement continued: “The claims of the martyrdom of 13 of our fighters who allegedly attacked Turkish forces and allied mercenaries in and around Afrin on 25-29 August and 4 September are unfounded lies. As we have made clear in our previous statements as well, our forces are not stationed in and around Afrin and are not involved in any operations against the invading Turkish army and allied groups in this region.” The Syrian Democratic Forces called on the public not to believe the false information being spread by the Turkish state.
