Mazloum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, confirmed that Turkish mercenaries were carrying out attacks in Deir ez-Zor to undermine the stability of the region, although he said the situation was moving towards the restoration of security and civil peace.
Abdi issued the statement on his official account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), saying: “Our forces, in cooperation and solidarity with our people of Deir ez-Zor, will continue the process of stabilizing the situation and ensuring the security of citizens as part of the ‘Security Enhancement’ campaign.” According to his tweet, with the support of the local population, tribes and the Syrian Democratic Forces, the situation is making progress towards restoring security, stabilization and maintaining internal peace. However, Turkish forces and mercenaries continue to launch attacks on Tal Tamr and Manbij to undermine the stability of the region and the will of the people, he added.
Statement of support
Another statement on the situation in the region was issued by the Democratic Civil Administration in Deir ez-Zor. The statement was read out in front of the Deir Ezzor Civil Council building in the Saba’a Kilo area by the council’s co-chair, Mohammed al-Rajab, and included the following statements: “The Autonomous Administration has always attached great importance to the city of Deir ez-Zor and has done everything available to do so and made great efforts to improve the social and administrative reality in coordination with the institutions. On the other hand, the hostile forces sought and are still seeking to strike security and stability in the region, and the recent events are only a continuation of a series of these desperate attempts, taking advantage of what the SDF have made to impose security and stability and pursue terrorist cells and drug dealers.”
The Administration affirmed its full support for the military forces: “We insist on fighting anyone who tries to strike the social fabric that was built with the blood of the people of the region’s components. We also call on our clans to rise to the level of responsibility, as they were throughout their history a safety valve for national unity, and we hold the international coalition responsible for what is happening. We demand real support for the efforts of our forces to impose security and stability, which serves their tasks in combating terrorism.”
