Notables and Sheikhs from Deir-Er-Zoom express solidarity with SDF

The Eastern Syrian region of Deir ez-Zor does not come to rest. Tensions in the region erupted after the commander of the Deir ez-Zor military council was arrested due to abuse of power. His impeachment took place following a statement by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Subsequently, armed conflicts and skirmishes involving external forces broke out in many places. Various recordings confirmed how foreign armed forces entered the region via the Euphrates and caused chaos and unrest. The troublemakers could be identified as forces close to the Assad regime and pro-Iranian forces stationed in the West of the Euphrates.

An alleged battle between Kurds and Arabs or an uprising by local Arab tribes against the SDF has been propagated in certain media outlets that are close to the Assad regime or the pro-Turkish Syrian opposition. However, on Saturday, footage from cities like Dhiban proved otherwise. Civilian facilities in the city were looted by the alleged insurgents, including the city’s water station, which was damaged. Now sheikhs and notables from the region spoke up and refuted all these claims.

As a matter of fact, the “Syrian regime” facilitates the entering process for “ISIS” cells and Iranian militias in order to incite grudges and hostilities between the local tribes and present the events as a tribal uprising. However, this would in no way correspond to the customs and traditions of the clans.

The joint statement went on to say: “The apparatus of the Syrian regime, in coordination with Iranian militias and Turkish mercenaries, has deliberately fueled the unrest in the regions of Northeast Syria in the media by portraying the situation in Deir ez-Zor as an ethnically motivated conflict between Arabs and Kurds”.

Against the background of the unrest, extra caution was called for in the direction of the tribes. There were advised not get involved in plans that could jeopardize the security of the areas in North and East Syria.

“We reiterate that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) represent the strength of the tribes, especially since the majority of these forces are made up of Arab tribes, specifically the known families of Deir ez-Zor. We declare our solidarity with the tribes of Deir ez-Zor Zor and support their righteous demands for a decent and secure life and want to revive the memories of those martyrs whose blood was shed”.

Finally, an appeal was made to the population to gather around the Syrian Democratic Forces, where their sons and daughters are. It is crucial to strengthen the role of the Autonomous Administration to meet the people’s demands and strengthen participatory democracy. Therefore, the tribes of the region play an important role in ensuring safety and security in the region.
