A U.S. State Department and OIR delegation meet with SDF and SDC leadership in Syria

The official Facebook page of the U.S. Embassy in Damascus published a post in which it stated that a delegation from the U.S. Department of State and a delegation from the Operation Inherent Resolve OIR Leadership met with the leadership of the Syrian Democratic Forces SDF and the Syrian Democratic Council SDC and tribal leaders from Deir El-Zour in Syria to discuss the developments taking place in Deir al-Zour province after it was attacked by cells affiliated with the Syrian regime and Iranian forces.

“NEA Deputy Assistant Secretary Goldrich and OIR Commander Major General Vowell met in northeast Syria with the SDF, the SDC, and tribal leaders from Deir El-Zour. They agreed on the importance of addressing the grievances of residents of Deir El-Zour, the dangers of outsiders interfering in Deir El-Zour, the need to avoid civilian deaths and casualties, and the need for de-escalation of violence as soon as possible. DAS Goldrich and MG Vowell reiterated the importance of the strong U.S. partnership with the SDF in the D-ISIS effort.”
