18-years old US citizen prevented from joining ISIS in Iraq by FBI

18-years old Davin Daniel Meyer from Castle Rock in the US was recently arrested by the FBI during his attempt to join the ISIS terrorist organization.

The arrest already took place on July 14, 2023 at the Denver airport. Pursuant to some media outlets, Meyer had prepared everything for his departure and intended to head off to Turkey, in order to join the group in adjacent Iraq.

The young citizen in fact had caught the intention of the FBI due to his radical views. Meyer regularly texted an FBI informant and revealed his extremist thoughts as well as his cherished wish to travel to Iraq in order to join ISIS.

Now, the 18-year old man will face a trial under the charges of “providing resources or material supports for a foreign terrorist organization”. In the worst case, he might receive a prison sentence of 20 years.
