Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki, the Election Monitoring Coordination Center Spokesperson and Supreme Election Council (YSK) representative of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) held a press conference regarding the vote counting process. Tiryaki revealed the ballot boxes whose results had been incorrectly entered into the YSK system.
The highlights of Tiryaki’s statement were as follows: “I would like to share three problems with you. First of all, we won three parliamentary seats in Hakkari. There are objections to this result. Of course, every party has the right to object. However, something completely different is being done in Hakkari. AKP candidates and provincial and district administrators are trying to take the election results away from us by using all public resources directly with the governor and local officials. We have all the counting and tabulation sheets of Hakkari, and they have been added to the system of the YSK. We have the result reports of every ballot box in Hakkari. Any other act means stealing the votes in Hakkari. We warn the local authorities, the governor of Hakkari; You are not the provincial president or political representative of the AKP. You cannot act like that. We reject this. You will never succeed.”
Electoral fraud: vote rigging
Tiryaki adds that a similar situation took place in Erzurum. According to unofficial results and data provided by the YSK to the political parties, Meral Danis Bestas was elected as a deputy in Erzurum. However, according to the statement of Tiryaki, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and one of the partners of the Nation Alliance are attempting to change the election results in Erzurum. Tiryaki commented on this incident with these words: “I hope this information is not true. I hope the partners of the Nation Alliance are not part of this conspiracy. We are fully prepared for this. From now on, we will defeat any attempt to steal the election results.”
Tiryaki also revealed the number of ballot boxes whose results were incorrectly entered into the system: two in Bismil, two in Cizre, five in Kayapinar, one in Alaca, Hakkari, Silvan, Karliova, Sirvan, Silvan, Batman, Urfa Besni, Ergani, and Bulanik. Throughout the country, hundreds of volunteers compare the discrepancies between the vote counting and tabulation sheets, the polling station result sheets and the data entered into the system and appeal for corrections. So far, a significant number of these appeals have been resolved.
Votes of YSP were registered to MHP
Tiryaki also documented the fact that YSP votes were registered to other parties that received few or no votes: “For example, in ballot box 1085, the YSP got 174 votes and Justice and Unity Party (ABP) got none, but all our votes went to ABP. This has been corrected following our objection. Again, in ballot box 1240, the YSP received 233 votes and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) received three votes, while all of our votes were written to the MHP. The results of ballot box 1244 were also recorded incorrectly. YSP’s vote was 147 and MHP’s vote was 1, but the system recorded MHP’s vote as 147. This fault is also corrected.” Tiryaki concluded his statement by saying that the party will continue to raise objections if it finds that any of the parliamentary seats it won have been taken away.
