Kilicdaroglu: CHP has concrete evidence of Russian election interference

Presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu has repeated his claim that Russia interfered in the Turkish elections. In an interview with Reuters Agency, the presidential candidate said the CHP has tangible evidence. According to his statement, his party has concrete evidence of Russia’s responsibility for the release of “deepfake” online content.

“I wouldn’t have tweeted if we didn’t have concrete evidence,” Kilicdaroglu told Reuters, adding that he was sharing information he had so that the whole world would be aware of it. He stressed that it is unacceptable for another country to interfere in Turkey’s electoral process in favor of one party. Responding to a question about relations with Russia, the politician said that they want to maintain relations that they do not want to break the friendly relations, but that they would not allow interference in the country’s internal affairs.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared in a statment that Kilicdaroglu’s accusations against Russia do not reflect reality: “We have repeatedly said and insist that we do not interfere in the internal affairs and electoral processes of other countries. We officially declare that there can be no question of any interference. If someone passed on such allegations to Kilicdaroglu, they are liars.”

Other matters were also addressed in the interview. Kilicdaroglu stated that, if elected, he would support NATO enlargement and maintain relations with NATO in the same framework as in the past. Lastly, he said the following about his foreign policies: “We will pursue a peace-oriented foreign policy that prioritizes Turkey’s national interests. Our priority will be to act in line with our national interest and the modern world.”
