Despite earthquake tragedy on both sides: The Turkish army bombs northern Syria again

In the night from Monday to Tuesday, residents and observers from the al-Shahba region in northern Aleppo reported Turkish artillery fire. The bombs fell on the outskirts of the town of Tal Rifaat.

Barely 24 hours earlier, the Turkish-Syrian border was hit by several devastating earthquakes and aftershocks, causing great suffering and leaving thousands dead and injured on both sides. The al-Shahba region, which houses tens of thousands of refugees from Turkish-occupied Afrin, was also hit very hard by the earthquake.

The region, in fact, has been declared the official target of Turkey’s military offensive. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly announced a military invasion of the region. Tal Rifaat and the surrounding area are repeatedly bombed by the Turkish army and Syrian opposition groups allied with it. In addition, the region is also suffering from a blockade by the Syrian regime’s troops. In al-Shahba, the desperation of the people increases with each passing day.
