Turkish Gendarmerie assaulted 30 civilians, including women and children at the Syrian border

On January 16, 2023, Turkish forces reportedly attacked 30 civilians, including women and children while they attempted to cross the Syrian-Turkish border in Idlib, located in the Northwest of the country.
According to eyewitnesses, who were amongst the detained and assaulted group, he stated he was accompanied by 30 people on their attempt to cross the border, until being ambushed by the Turkish Gendarmerie and subsequently arrested.
The members of the Turkish policy forces reportedly beat the civilians with iron pipes and wooden sticks until being detained near the Turkish city of Reyhanli for four houses in the rain.
Pursuant to several sources, the Turkish Gendarmerie handed the group of detainees over the next morning to members of „Hayat Tahrir-Ash-Sham“ at the Bab Al-Hawa border crossing in the North of Islib, leading to the subsequent arrest of the smugglers who assisted the civilians in crossing the border.
