Ukraine surprises Russia and the decision is soon to be made

Major breakthroughs in favor of Ukraine have occurred and the situation is difficult for Russia as great developments and accelerated events in the war in Ukraine during the past hours after a period of stagnation and the establishment of points of engagement and control between the two parties took place; for Kyiv to talk about the defeat of “Putin’s” army after a counterattack in which the Ukrainian forces were able to advance significantly in the Kharkiv region, the most prominent Russian stronghold in northeastern Ukraine, in addition to penetrating the first line of defense of the Russian forces in Kherson, the first major Ukrainian city in the south of the country to fall into the hands of the Russians after the forces advanced to the city from the Crimea in the early days of the war.

This increases speculations about the sudden collapse of a number of Russian front lines in light of the rapid advance of Ukrainian forces, as the most important field shift in the fighting after several months of tipping the scales in Moscow’s favour.

Dramatic new stage

The sudden Ukrainian advance, which is part of a long-awaited counterattack launched by Kyiv in an attempt to regain large areas lost during the past months, apparently came as part of a new policy of the latter’s allies based on breaking Moscow militarily, as Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in a press conference. He shared with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock that some allies were reluctant to start sending weapons, adding, “Now we no longer hear this argument. We showed that we are able to defeat the Russian army, we are doing it with the weapons that were given to us.“

In return, Annalena Baerbock promised more military aid, and did not rule out providing Western-style main battle tanks, noting that the next few weeks and months would be crucial. While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, through a video speech, warned the Russian forces, saying: “If they want to survive, it is time for the Russian soldiers to flee and return home,” stressing that his forces have recaptured 30 towns from the Russian forces in the northeast of the country.

Crucial Russian statements

After the Russian war against Ukraine reached a stalemate, with neither side achieving significant gains, this situation may be about to change, with Russia declaring that it does not refuse to hold negotiations with Ukraine, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow does not refuse negotiations with Kyiv, but the longer the process is postponed, the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement, adding that delays of the negotiations with Russia will make the agreement in the future difficult.

Lavrov also stressed that Russia does not avoid communicating with anyone, and whoever wants to engage in dialogue with it can do so, stressing that all Western leaders’ requests for contact with Putin are always approved.

The month of decisiveness and the end

The British newspaper “The Times” revealed that the month of September is considered a “decisive month” for the war in Ukraine, noting that the Kyiv counter-attack in the south of the country aims to escalate pressure on the Kremlin, amid fears that the energy crisis could dissipate Western support.

The British newspaper said in a report that the winter season will bring with it changes in the dynamics and balances of the war for Russia, Ukraine and even the Western countries that support Kyiv.

The newspaper further added that without increasing Western military support, Ukraine cannot progress from slowly losing everywhere, to winning somewhere, and without Western financial support approaching $9 billion per month, the Ukrainian government simply cannot continue to operate while fighting Also her fight for survival.

During the past six months of the Russian invasion against Ukraine, foreign military aid to Kiev contributed to not losing the war while imposing the equation of no winner and no loser, as the West did not support Ukraine with basic weapons that might radically change the balance of power, while politicians talk about the need to defeat Russia and return to The pre-war borders, all these facts come with the possibility of radical changes in the indicators of the conflict in the near future.
